The Inheritance Framework

estate rules assign fixed Quranic fractional shares (Fard) to primary heirs, while residual amounts (Taseeb) are allocated among children or agnatic relatives:

Spouse Share: Wife gets 1/8 (with children) or 1/4 (without). Husband gets 1/4 (with children) or 1/2 (without).
Parents Share: Mother & Father each receive 1/6 when children exist.
Residue (Asabah): Male heirs receive double the portion of female heirs (2:1 ratio).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does estate distribution happen before or after debt settlement?

Funeral expenses, outstanding debts, and valid wills (up to 1/3 of the total estate) must be settled prior to distributing inheritance among legal heirs.

Under Sharia principles, male heirs bear sole financial responsibility for maintaining female family members, household expenses, and dependents.
